If Things Can Go Wrong

Sometimes, what seems to be an unmitigated mess, is just nature’s way of helping you to make some decisions.

During the last couple of years since this blog was first started, I have learned so much that it is almost hard to believe. Many times I have wished that I had set up things a little differently, but was cautious about making changes to a site with so many visitors. Sometimes a business is faced with a decision: leave things as they are, or take a few steps back in order to grow stronger than ever. And sometimes, like I said, nature helps to make those decisions.

I am not known for going about things halfway, even when it comes to messing up. Through a series of mistakes in backing up the database for this blog, combined with moving to a new dedicated server, I managed to lose the information that would have made the move seamless. Now, I find myself with the joy of totally rebuilding this site from scratch.

Thankfully, I have the actual text from my postings, but it is still a matter of a few all niters to get everything posted again.

Since I am now faced with completely rebuilding this blog, I figured now was as good a time as any to go ahead and take the plunge and make the changes that I wish I would have done to begin with, to better organize things both for the visitors and also for the search engines.

You may have also noticed that I moved the blog from a subdomain into the main domain. Perfect time to test how quickly search engines respond to 301 permanent redirects on a well established site!

Of course, in life, nothing ever seems to go quite as smoothly as we have planned. There are always hiccups.

I fully expect you to find mistakes and broken links as I work through checking each and every article I have posted. I truly appreciate your patience while I move through this process. And, if you find something that needs to be corrected, please send me a quick email to let me know.

Thanks for being a part of my life, and allowing me to be a part of yours!
